This MCP655 from Swiftech has been custom modded by Sidewinder Computers to allow for
standard G 1/4 threaded fittings to be directly installed to the pump. This includes compressions, rotaries, and other G 1/4" adapters. Each pump is pre-fitted with your selection of fittings below to ensure leak-free operation. With this modification, a custom pump-top is not necessary for customers who enjoy the stock D5 look.
Examples of various fitting installations can be seen in the thumbnails.
Here we can see why this modification, and other aftermarket pump tops, can
easily improve the performance characteristics of a Laing D5 pump. Only once the
stock top inlets are cut do we realize that they have been restricted out of the
box. This modification equalizes the inlet and outlet from 9 millimeters to
about 12 millimeters ID.
